tank dress

Gray tank dress Gray tank dress Gray tank dress

I wore this dress on Easter. It feels like such a long time ago now!  It was also much warmer then (in March!) than it has been lately.  We always get the "May gray" weather in this area, so winter tends to be warmer than spring.  Go figure.  Anyway, I bought this dress at Loft in medium and then altered the side seams so the armholes wouldn't gape.  I think this is going to be a great dress for summer, once the weather warms up.  I've really worn it only once so far, but the hot season is coming and then I will love it.

Sorry for the poor picture quality--I'm trying to get back into blogging and I just had Dieter take these pictures on my phone in random lighting.  I'll try to get slightly better photos next time.

What are you looking forward to wearing in summer?  I'm crazy about tank dresses in a midi length.

chambray + grey

chambray + grey chambray + grey chambray + grey chambray + grey

The rain is over, but we are having a lovely bout of spring weather with highs in the 60's. I love it!  The weather bounces all over the place, constantly, but both this outfit and yesterday's are mostly made up of pieces from my "winter" capsule.  I haven't put it away yet as the weather has taken this dip and I love getting a bit more wear from these pieces before I store them.

I'm in love with this chambray top from J. Crew.  It was new this fall as part of my "Winter 14/15 Capsule."  I love it because it is a true chambray fabric, not a denim shirt, which I find to be harder to wear.  This fabric is soft and lightweight and even has some drape to it.

The grey jeans are the only item I kept from my one and only Stitch Fix box (last fall).  They are Level 99 jeans and they are pretty good but I constantly have to pull them up.  I need a jean that is more cinched in at the waist.  (BTW the reason I didn't continue with Stitch Fix is because I didn't feel like they really read my profile or responded to my requests.  And the timing was not right for me since I was just about to get into capsule wardrobes.)  I'd love to hear about your experience with Stitch Fix if you've tried it.

my last outfit post

This is post likely my last post on FaerieMB!  I'm still fascinated by the topic of pants fits and outfit formulas, but I'm no style blogger.  It's too hard trying to get pictures of myself!  Maybe I'll try again in the future, but I don't think so.

So in the time I've been doing this blog I've become
  • more and more convinced of the skinny pant silhouette.  I've no idea how that happened but now I'm mostly a skinny pant person.  Weird!  I'm curious how long the trend will last.
  • become more attracted to wearing neutrals and simple styles.
  • embraced the magic of the cognac boot or shoe.  I love how they make an outfit pop!  The boots I'm wearing here are by Seychelle's and I bought them from Zapppos.  Love them!  A great purchase.
I'd love it if you leave me a comment about your favorite outfit formula lately.  And thanks so much for reading!!

grey + mustard

mustard cardi 5 mustard cardi 4 mustard cardi 1 mustard cardi 2

Today I wore this grey + mustard combination.  The bright cardigan really perks this outfit up, which is actually very nice for a Monday.  I also like that this white top has a lacy overlay--it dresses up the corduroy pants a bit.

What do you guys think about this pant silhouette (boot cut cords vs. skinny pants)?  I'm so curious to find the best pants shape.

sunday beach day

sunday sunday sunday sunday

How was your weekend? Mine was great--it was such a relief to spend more time at home this weekend and not be so busy for once.  Unfortunately, I only caputured one of my outfits this weekend.  This is my Sunday outfit--we went to the beach (thus the hat) and otherwise were around the house (sans hat, of course!).

I have a lot of curiosity about how to look chic + comfortable on the weekends.  I want to look effortless and yet with a certain something.  That's one of the things I want to explore on the blog.  I admire naturally stylish women so much.

Happy new week, everyone!

bright chevrons!

bright chevrons 2 bright chevrons bright chevrons 4 bright chevrons 6 bright chevrons 3

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Tuesday is a good day for me because it means we have gotten through Monday and we get to order pizza for dinner. I'm having a half a glass of wine right now too, so that is also good.

Today's outfit is more or less a repeat of yesterday's--a graphic lightweight sweater and pants. I love these corduroy pants, but half the time I'm not sure how to style them.  I like the way they work with this longer top, though.  And the bright heels really complete the outfit. Over the last two years, as I've been improving my wardrobe, I've become MUCH more of a shoe person than ever before. I never realized before how much shoes add to an outifit!

Are you a shoe person, or do you basically rely on the same 2-3 pairs (as I used to do)?
