scarf + stripes

hooray for tuesday hooray for tuesday hooray for tuesday hooray for tuesday

Happy Tuesday!  I am always so happy to make it through Tuesday of a normal week.  It is all downhill from here, right?  Sort of.

I threw on this scarf as an afterthought while running out the door, but I ended up really liking it.  I aspire to be able to effortlessly wear scarves.  I love adding color and pattern but usually I'm not sure what to do with them.  Scarf + stripes inspiration here.

Regular scarf inspiration here, here, and here.

with orange pants

with orange pants with orange pants with orange pants with orange pants

I haven't been wearing these orange pants all that often, mostly because what do you wear with bright orange? Certainly not black (although maybe on Halloween I will).  I paired them with this blue tuxedo style blouse did a half-tuck.  Too sloppy?  I'm okay with it.  Also:  I liked clicking around in these heels all day.

swirlly

travel tee travel tee travel tee travel tee

Happy Wednesday! I am linking up for What I Wore Wednesday this week.  I love this skirt so much.  I've written about it before here.  It is SO swirly and fun.  I pair it with a variety of tees.  It looks great with stripes but I love it with this "travel" tee as well (it has cities written all around the edge in a square).  Speaking of travel and cities, my daughter Faith is spending an academic year in Madrid.  I'm planning on visiting her in the spring.  So exciting!

Outfit details:
tee:  J. Crew (it is a linen tee and I love the drape)

bright top for a tuesday

IMG_5280 IMG_5280 for a tuesday for a tuesday for a tuesday for a tuesday
Sorry for the long break between posts, you guys. I had plenty of outfits I wanted to share with you, but getting the photos just did not happen. Oh well.

The story behind this blouse is that Faith and I found it when we were thrifting (a couple years ago, now) and we were both obsessed with it. Neither one of us could figure out how to style it, though. I haven't really worn it (it ended up with me), but today I felt like pairing it with skinnier jeans and high wedges. I liked the way it worked out!

Good news on these wedges--they're still high, but I'm getting much more used to walking in them. Yay! So happy about that because I love them.

Outfit details:
flowy top: thrifted
skinny jeans: Levis "midrise skinny jeans"
bracelets: green bracelets were both gifts; brass bracelet from Etsy. I'm also wearing the chevron necklace by Lisa Leonard
wedges: Gap

bright pants!

bright pants 2 bright pants! bright pants 6 bright pants 5 bright pants 4 bright pants 7

What do you guys think of the bright pants trend? I love it, but I'm still figuring out how to style them.  I'm finding the best thing for me is to keep the rest of the outfit pretty neutral but with a pop.  I'm liking how this longer sweater skims over any problem areas of the chinos (low waist, lumpy pockets) and lets the color and the cut of the legs do the talking.  The leopard print heels provide the pop.

Thank you so much for all your comments!  Check back (if you want to) because I'm replying in the comments.  I love to talk about putting outfits together, you guys, so feel free to comment and ask questions/ponder stuff.

And it is Wednesday, so I'm linking up for the first time with Lindsey from The Pleated Poppy!  Thanks to Molly for the suggestion.
